I was born in Laredo, TX and attended school in Mexico until 6th grade.  Since Laredo is a border town between Mexico and the U.S., my parents decided to enroll me in a Mexican all-girls Catholic school.  I think they made the right choice because I had a wonderful time growing up!

I graduated high school in the U.S. from St. Augustine High School in Laredo.  Then, I attended University of Texas at San Antonio where I graduated with a bachelor's in psychology and a minor in French in 2005.  After I graduated I moved to Houston, TX and completed an Alternative Certification Program.  I accepted a bilingual teaching position in Aldine Independent School District at Hinojosa EC/PK Center, which is definitely one of the best things that has happened to me.

I wanted to become a cognitive psychologist, but I needed to complete a master's program first.  Thus, I realized I needed a steady and financially secure job while I completed my graduate work.  I decided teaching would be the easiest job I could find, and I would just be teaching for two years, while I finished my master's degree.  Within the first months of teaching, I realized I had made a mistake.  Teaching was far more challenging than I expected.  Even though I had made a mistake, it is the most brilliant mistake I could have made.  I fell in love with teaching!! I finished my master's degree in psychology, but I remained in education. I have always been a philanthropist at heart, and I always wanted to figure out how to make this world a better place.  Little did I know that teaching would give me this great opportunity.  I realized how powerful and influential the field of education is.

I have many passions in life- cultures, languages, traveling, and many more.  Through education, I could share my passions and knowledge with my students and colleagues.  Since I became a teacher, I have been traveling the world searching for inspirations to bring into my classroom.  I have traveled to Greece, France, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Peru, Argentina and Brazil.  I also speak Spanish, English and French fluently and I have knowledge of GreeK and Turkish.  I am currently trying to learn Farsi.

Also, in 2009 I was honored to be named Aldine Independent School District Elementary Teacher of the Year and Bilingual Teacher of the Year.

I am looking forward to my future as an educator and I always take these words to heart,

"Be the difference you want to see in the world" ~ Gandhi
