I graduated from college with a finance degree. After I graduated, I held several positions in the banking industry and I had a very promising future. However, there was a different plan for me.
I started teaching and by the second day in the classroom I realized that for the first time in my life I was at the right place. Teaching became a joy to me and every morning I would wake up excited about the new day. The young mind of kids just inspired me to take them to higher places. I realized that they come knowing very little and they have a hunger for knowledge. I started sharing my passions and my knowledge about the world and a new window of opportunities opened for both of us, students and teacher. One day we were doing yoga for relaxation, the next day they were curious about why and who, so we started learning about different cultures in the world. My principal has a saying that I have much respect for “If they can’t go out to the world, let’s bring the world to them.” I took this quote by heart through pictures, music, games, movement, and everything that I can to open their imagination to the world that it’s out there for them to enjoy. My students are my inspiration and my joy and I hope to always keep plating the seed to no international boundaries.
Personally, I am a mother of two daughters Rita Xitlali, 3, and Frida Elizabeth, 1. I was raised Mexican and I have been happily married to a Honduran, Jesus, for 9 years. I am currently working on my second master's degree in counseling to further my knowledge in communicating to children and their families about the world. I am a novice runner and I enjoy every mile I run.
